What is soft tissue surgery?

Soft tissue surgery refers to all non-joint or bone-related surgical procedures. It includes everything from simple interventions like spaying/neutering to more complex procedures like abdominal surgery. Here are some examples of soft tissue procedures we provide:

  • Mass excision
  • Umbilical hernia
  • Caesarean section
  • Pyometra surgery
  • Cystonomy

Contact us if your pet needs a surgical intervention that is not listed.

What is laser surgery?

There are a number of advantages to this surgical technique.

  • Reduced pain and inflammation: The laser cauterizes the nerve endings when it cuts, reducing inflammation and postoperative pain for your pet.
  • Reduced risk of infection: The heat of the laser kills any bacteria present on the tissue during surgery, reducing risk of infection.
  • Minimal bleeding: Because the laser seals small blood vessels as it cuts, bleeding is drastically reduced. When there is little or no bleeding, the veterinary surgeon can complete the surgery more quickly; a faster procedure means reduced anaesthesia-related risks.
  • Faster recovery

A number of soft tissue surgical interventions can be done by laser. Routine procedures like spaying/neutering often use laser. Laser is also used for skin tumour removal, eyelid surgery, entropion correction, some mouth and throat procedures, and various other inventions.
