Senior Care

At Hôpital vétérinaire Lachute, we work to build trust with your pet. We hope to be a part of your pet’s life for their lifetime. We know that animals require additional attention and care as they age and we also know how important your pet is to you. That’s why we are here to guide and support you to ensure your pet ages in good health.

What health problems are common in senior pets?

Senior animals frequently develop health and behavioural problems such as:

  • Vision problems
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney failure
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Heart problems
  • Osteoarthritis

How can I best care for my senior pet?

Frequent checkups are important for properly monitoring your pet’s health. Consultations are a good opportunity to ask questions, have issues diagnosed and prevent health problems. Your vet may recommend new physical exercises or changes to your pet’s nutrition, care and routine to offer them the best quality of life. You can, of course, help maintain your pet’s health by having them exercise, feeding them well, having them vaccinated and administering their prescribed medications.
