Bloodwork is essential for ensuring your pet is in good health. At Hôpital vétérinaire Lachute, we do all blood testing needed to analyze and prevent health problems for your pet. 

Why is veterinary bloodwork important? 

Vets rely on blood testing for a number of reasons. The most common are: 

• Determining base levels: your vet may sometimes recommend blood tests when your pet is in perfect health. These analyses are to obtain reference levels to compare to future results if ever your pet is unwell. 
• Pre-op: to prepare for general anaesthesia, bloodwork is recommended to ensure all organs are functioning properly, to avoid any complications.
• Making a diagnosis: blood tests can be used for diagnostic purposes when your pet is sick.
• Follow-up for a known condition: Blood analysis are used to help your vet prescribe the right medication for your sick pet and provide appropriate follow-up.
