A well-behaved dog is a more confident, relaxed and happy dog. The main cause of euthanasia in healthy dogs is behavioural issue or lack of proper education. When your dog behaves well and pays attention to you, your relationship with him will be pleasant and less stressful. Educating your pet, be it a puppy or an older adopted dog, has many benefits.

SAFETY
One of the most important reasons to educate your dog is to keep him safe. A dog that will come back to you when you call him (even if he is afraid or distracted) will be less likely to end up in a dangerous situation that may cause him to get lost or hurt.

IMPROVING CONTROL
Teaching your dog a few basic commands will give you better control over him, whether it is at home or in different social situations. Sit, down, come, and stay are the basic commandments. Once your dog has learned them, you will never have to send him to another room when you have guests visiting your home. Taking your dog to events, outings or dog parks will not only be possible, but enjoyable for both of you.

ESTABLISHING A STRONG CONNECTION
Training by way of positive reinforcement is an excellent way to build a strong relationship with your pet. This means offering him something that he loves such as special treats, food, your praise and attention, or anything that your dog finds fun, in exchange for the proper reaction to your commands. Working with your dog daily and using positive reinforcement when practicing the commands that he has learned will keep the connection between you both positive and strong for all the years to come.

It is important to remember that owning a pet is a privilege that comes with many responsibilities and even more rewards. Whether you decide to train your dog on your own or you get help from an expert, it will be well worth the investment of your time and effort.
